My name is Mike Lewis and I have been a professional portrait artist since 1998. My work has mostly been acrylic paints on large canvas. Recently I have taken an interest in smaller scale mixed media portrait work.

I have developed a method of creating a 17" x 22" portrait that combines my experience with charcoal, giclée printmaking, graphite, conte crayon, pastel, watercolor, colored pencil, pen and ink, illustrator markers, and whatever else is laying around. In short, no two drawings are formulated the same way; I use what I need where I need it.
My goal is to create a final product that feels completely photorealistic when viewed from a distance of 18 inches or more and hand drawn when you are in close proximity to the portrait. I incorporate digital printing in the early stages of the process to help achieve proper geometry and mid tone placement. Everything visible in the final product is achieved by hand. I genuinely strive to create the very best portraits in the world.
**It is important to note that on this site you will only see mixed media drawings. Many people mistake my work for photographs in real life and it is a challenge to show the hand drawn qualities of the works in a web browser.
